The short version
- Sleeper train tickets are non-refundable once booked, this is the railway's policy, not ours.
- Double-check your travel dates and passenger details before you pay.
- If the train is cancelled by the railway, we will work to get your money back.
- If we can't secure your ticket, you get a full refund automatically.
Why tickets are non-refundable
Egypt sleeper train tickets are issued against specific passenger passport details and are tied to a particular departure date and train. Once purchased from the railway, they cannot be returned, exchanged, or transferred to another passenger or date. This is the railway operator's policy, and it applies to all tickets regardless of where you buy them.
As a result, all bookings made through Trains Egypt are final and non-refundable once your ticket has been issued.
If you need to change your travel date
Date changes are not possible once a ticket has been issued. If your plans change, you would need to book a new ticket for your revised travel date. We recommend booking with enough lead time but not so far in advance that your plans are likely to change.
If your train is cancelled
In the event that a train service is cancelled by the railway operator, we will contact you as soon as we are informed and work to obtain a refund or alternative travel on your behalf. However, we cannot guarantee a refund in this scenario as it depends entirely on the railway operator's response. Any refund we receive from the railway will be passed to you in full.
If we can't secure your ticket
On very rare occasions, a ticket may sell out between the time you pay and when we process your booking. If this happens, we will refund your payment in full within 3–5 business days and notify you by email immediately.
Incorrect passenger details
Tickets are issued against the passport details you provide. If details are entered incorrectly and the ticket cannot be used as a result, we are unable to offer a refund. Please review all passenger information carefully on the booking summary before completing payment.
Our service fee
Our service fee is included in the ticket price and is non-refundable in all circumstances, including the rare case of a railway cancellation.
Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback with your bank for a valid booking where a ticket was delivered, we reserve the right to contest the chargeback and provide evidence of delivery. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in being barred from future bookings.
